Queens, New York inspired this!

Living in Jamaica, Queens for 6 + years and seeing the difference in way of life when visiting places like Kew Gardens and Astoria, Queens made this song happen.

Call it oldschool or what ever, but the feeling of walking into a store and discovering new music is unmatched. ( whether it be a music store or just the local bodega ). The MP3 download doesn't have the same excitement as holding a physical CD, Cassette or LP. Just yesterday this was just sitting on the counter in the neighborhood deli. Not sure who this is But  always interested in listening to new local talent. If you feel that way also. then download and enjoy. feel free to email us your music, artwork, or comments - datuff@yahoo.com

Have you met Crimdella?

As his biography states, "Crimdella has come to make the blood boil in the veins of Rap. His rhymes are an arresting mosaic of images from his life as a young man growing up in the streets of Harlem, the youngest son of a legendary black activist and community organizer, his college experience as member of Alpha Phi Alpha, and from an imagination saturated by the gritty, vibrant adventures of his favorite comic books. Crimdella has been translating raw emotional language into street poetry almost all of his life. His artistry drafts mythic epics, and stark, earthbound documentaries that meditate on the meaning of black life in America over scintillating beats."

I have had the pleasure of seeing this man perform on quite a few occasions, each time more electrifying than the next! Here is one of my favorite songs from this exciting artist who is set to breakthrough the music industry with honest yet catchy lyrics.

Mikey D - Live Freestyle - 1986

Still remembering the great times that has taken place in the park of Queens NY in the 80's. It was all about lyrics. If you was able to tell a good story on that mic, while at the same time keep the party people partying. you was the Man.

Very low key in the blackground was the DJ. for those of us that was paying attention to what was happening behind the scenes. We got a chance to see some of the most incredible talents in the form of DJing out in South Jamaica.

This was one of my all time favorites. The story is very organized and lyrical. But what I like the most one this one is the off beat on beat DJ Style of Cutting That DJ Johnnie Quest was doing on the turntables. And the way Mikey D never missed a beat was epic.

The year was 1986. Not sure of the Park. Either PS. 231 of maybe Ajax. Either way Enjoy This One.

The Best Of Mikey D - 2005

In the summer of 2005, the underground scene on the streets of Queens NY. was really buzzing. This is around the time when every recording artist became independent. This was possible by artist pressing up their own CD's or DVD's and distributing them hand to hand. Also during that time was when you could walk into any local deli, groceries store or barber shop and purchase bootleg copies of all of your favorite albums or mixtapes.

Most of these projects were handcrafted so they were only available in limited supply. There was alot of good music and hood movies released on the streets. Some of these releases stood out more than others.

The best of Mikey D mixtape is now 10 years old. Not sure how many were actually made but if you have a physical copy of this CD you are holding a rare gem.

Treacherous 3 First Anniversary at Disco Fever 1981 -Lovebug Starski, Treacherous Three, Spoonie Gee

Reminiscing on the early days of hip hop. Getting a chance to witness the creativity and ingenuity of that young generation. The Disco Fever was the place to be. You can hear it in the excitement of the audio recordings. The music selection was phenomenal. The scope of the Genre varied from disco to rock and roll to soul or whatever song had a funky beat.

This is what Hip Hop was built from. If you listen closely you will hear the innocence in the voices of these rappers. They seem to know what they are doing is greatness. But do not realize how far it will go.

1981 - In the bx, they may not have had much money. But they did have the Disco Fever.
